How to get rich quick! (The Secret? You don't...)
I joined my friends for another round of late night racquetball after my four-month-old baby had fallen asleep. At the end of our play, we sat outside of the court for a short while talking about upcoming events. I asked if either of them planned on going back to school, and then it happened, I heard the beginning lines of something I've heard too much. It goes something like, "so I met this 30 year old couple who have been retired since they were 23, they're financially independent, I've convinced them to take them under my wing" ...blah Blah BLAH!
The greatest areas we are impacted in scams such as these are money making schemes and weight loss products.
"Miracle Drink For Extreme Weight Loss - Lose Weight FAST 20KG in 20 DAYS,Get a Flat Tummy FAST"
"How To Make $100 - $150 Per Hour With Real Paying Work From Home Online Jobs"
These are actual ads I came across online.
Our minds are set up in a way that drives us to achieve the greatest outcome with the smallest input. When someone gives us a business proposition that seemingly will have us retiring at the age of 25 we tune in. When someone tells us that all we need is a magic pill to have us lose that extra weight we've been carrying, we tune in. We don't want to have to work for the rest of our lives or exercise or cut out the foods we love. We want the best and we want it now without any of that extra work!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that's just not how life works. Next time someone tries to have you buy into their business with the notion that you'll be financially independent in five years or sell you seaweed wraps that will tone you up with no effort, remember me. Remember that living means working. We need to work everyday and the harder we do the better our outcome. The only way that you're going to retire by age 25 is if you have a large inheritance coming your way or you're a brilliant minded investor. The only way you're going to lose 30 pounds in a month is if you become very ill with a serious disease. Let us not desire things to be handed us freely but appreciate the moment when we can step back and savor the rewards of our effort.

Dang! I love your title. It caught my attention immediately.
